What is planned giving? A planned gift is a gift that is usually made from assets, not disposable income. It involves careful planning to determine the method that best serves the donor’s needs and is usually made in consultation with a professional advisor. Planned giving builds the endowment, which is the future of MTNA. By leaving a legacy through a planned gift, future generations of music teachers and students will benefit from MTNA programs, grants and awards.

The most common planned gift is a bequest to the organization in a will. Other planned gifts such as life insurance, remainder trusts, gifts of securities and charitable gift annuities can benefit MTNA without significantly affecting plans to give to loved ones while allowing tax benefits to the donor.

MTNA has established the Legacy Society to recognize those individuals who have made a commitment to the future through a planned gift or by fully funding a named endowment at the $20,000 level.
