Teacher Enrichment Grants of up to $750 are available for private study, specific college-level course work or projects in performance, pedagogy, music theory and composition. The grant is not intended to be used to pursue course work toward a degree, for travel funds or for ongoing projects. The number of grants awarded in any year is determined by the number of qualified applicants and available funds.

Below is a list of projects that have received funding in the past.

  • 12 hour-long lessons with premiere bluegrass fiddler Annie Staninec
  • Take four lessons on the piano music of Elliott Carter with Ursula Oppens
  • Take private piano lessons with Clive Swansbourne, concert pianist and recording artist
  • Attend the Vocal Pedagogy Professional Workshop (VPPW) at Boston Conservatory
  • Attend the Smithsonian Folkways Certification Course in World Music Pedagogy at the University of Washington
  • Learn how to make clarinet reeds from tube cane
  • Take lessons with Bradley Sowash that will center around how to teach improvisation to intermediate students in various styles such as Latin Jazz, World Music, Jazz Standards, American Folk and American Blues
  • Attend the American Suzuki Institute (ASI) to take Violin Units 9-10
  • Study a branch of yoga dealing with breath work, known as pranayama. Comparable to a mindfulness practice, pranayama works with the breath through a series of exercises to positively impact the nervous system which will help music performance anxiety
  • Attend the InterHarmony International Festival in Aqui Terme, Piedmont, Italy, as a piano performance participant
